A former Love Island contestant will switch on the Welwyn Garden City Christmas lights this year.

Organisers of the festive event in WGC town centre on Thursday, November 16 have confirmed the mystery special guest who will switch on the lights.

Glamorous former Love Island contestant Kady McDermott will perform the honours in Howardsgate.

In confirming the news this evening, Welwyn Garden City Business Improvement District (BID) tweeted: “We’re SO excited to welcome beautiful Love Island contestant Kady @kadymcdermottx to switch on WGC Christmas lights this year #LoveIsland”

Taking to social media, Stevenage’s Kady McDermott tweeted to her 332,000 Twitter followers: “So excited to be turning on the Christmas lights on 16th November in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire”

Kady appeared in the 2016 series of Love Island, the ITV2 dating reality show hosted by Caroline Flack.
