Benington Lordship Gardens

If you are looking for an Easter Sunday or Easter Monday trip out, why not head over to Benington Lordship Gardens to see the flowers?

After the large drifts of snowdrops have faded, the picturesque gardens at Benington Lordship are covered by Scilla bithynica, a dainty relative of the bluebell that is just as invasive as its wild cousin.

With large clumps of daffodils flowering at the same time, Easter is a good time to visit the gardens of the Georgian manor house.

The orchard, in particular, is always a carpet of blue and yellow at this time of the year.

Benington Lordship, with its remains of a Norman Castle and moat, will be open on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday from noon to 4pm.

Adult admission costs £5, and children under-16 pay £2. Entrance is free for under-12s. No dogs allowed.

The gardens are located four miles east of Stevenage in the village of Benington next to the church.

Visitors of all ages will enjoy the peaceful location with unspoilt views over the surrounding Hertfordshire countryside.
