A FILM season celebrating the history and success of the studios of Elstree and Borehamwood will hit the big screen in Hatfield this autumn.

The UHArts season opens with Elstree – Britain’s Hollywood, a ‘guided tour’ of almost 100 years of film (and more recently, television) activity from the studios – home to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Dam Busters and many more.

This informative talk will be delivered by Bob Redman, secretary of Elstree Screen Heritage.

Further events in the season include screenings of some of the biggest movies created at the studios, such as The Shining, Labyrinth and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Each film will be introduced by Paul Welsh MBE, chairman of Elstree Screen Heritage, and will feature highlights from interviews with the people who helped make these classic films.

Elstree – Britain’s Hollywood is free to attend and takes place on Tuesday, October 9 at the University of Hertfordshire.

Screenings take during October and November at The Weston Auditorium, on the De Havilland Campus in Hatfield, and admission is £4.
