That’s Alan Davies as seen on QI and star of Jonathan Creek, not Alan Davies the deputy editor of the Welwyn Hatfield Times.

The curly-haired comedian is setting out on the road later this year with his brand new stand-up show, Life Is Pain, with one of the stops at the Alban Arena in St Albans on Friday, December 7.

Following a hugely successful and enjoyable stint in Australia, which was loved by critics and audiences alike, it seemed only natural for Alan to make his long-awaited return to live stand-up in the UK this year.

He last performed live stand-up in this country in his sell-out 2001 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show.

Alan will be joining Chris Evans and Alex Jones on the One Show tonight (Friday) after announcing his return to stand-up on last week’s Graham Norton show.

He’ll be talking about his upcoming tour, and no doubt entertaining the studio audience from 7pm tonight on BBC1.
