Tewin kept up the pressure on Rickmansworth at the top of SHCL Division Six A with a solid five-wicket win over Welwyn Garden City 3rds.

WGC got off to a good start, putting on 57 for the first wicket before Will Pickworth took three wickets in nine balls to get Tewin going.

Spinner Luke Wilde (2-30) also managed to pick up a couple of wickets although a quick-fire 50 for Dylan Parker got them in a good position at 150-5.

However, Paul Shankster (2-39), made the breakthrough in a fantastic spell of bowling before Pickworth returned to bowl WGC out for 182 and complete figures of 5-37 for himself.

They lost an early wicket but Ben Sheppard (43) and Rob Patterson (52) set Tewin up for the victory.

And after a couple of quick wickets, Pickworth (32*) and Charlie Phelan (22 retired hurt) saw them through with seven overs to spare.

The second team, however, lost by 85 runs to Old Camdenians, Lewis Cullen’s two wickets the best of the bunch for Tewin.
