Tewin Cricket Club made it six wins on the bounce with a fine 74-run win over Welwyn Garden City 3rds.

Batting first, they were suffering at 40-4 but 88 for the fifth wicket from Will Pickworth and Dan Smith pulled them out of a tricky situation.

Smith fell for 38 but a run-a-ball 29 from Ben Sheppard, coupled with good running and 84* from Pickworth, saw them finish on 208-6.

In response, a tidy opening spell from Paul Shankster and Luke Wilde put early pressure on WGC with Wilde picking up a couple of wickets.

However, it was the bowling of Tewin paceman Dan Smith that turned the game, as he took four wickets with the first eight balls of his spell.

And he came back into the attack to pick up a further two scalps, finishing on 6-35, and leaving WGC all out for 134.

Chris Sainsbury managed 59* for WGC.

There was no joy for the seconds though as they lost by five wickets away to Old Camdenians.
