Datchworth’s green shirts were faced with a wall of yellow in their 18-15 defeat at St Albans – as indiscipline cost them too often at crucial times.

It was another match which saw the Villagers throw away a hard-earned lead and drops them below their hosts in London North West Three.

They started well enough, scoring within seconds of the start.

Tom Bennett found Alex Nolan with a looping miss-pass which was enough to create space for James Watt on the wing who returned the ball to Nolan for the score, duly converted by Tom Wood.

But from there Datch kept giving away penalty after penalty and Saints scored their first try with two in the sin-bin.

Wood did add a penalty but the second half saw another home try with Datchworth down a man and another yellow gave St Albans a further three.

Bennett scored a try when Saints were yellow carded but the hosts clinched the win with a second penalty.
