London North West Three: Datchworth find London Welsh too hot to handle despite promising performance

A new-look Datchworth side found London Welsh too tough on the day but will take plenty of promise from the 27-7 loss.
Ed Cockburn made his debut at scrum-half while Geoff Clapp and Louis Watts formed the new centre partnership.
Alex Nolan, who used to line up there, moved into the forwards for the first time, something which obviously agreed with him as he scored Datchworth’s only try of the game.
They were chasing the game at the time, 20-0 down, but Nolan burst through a tackle to run in unopposed. Sam Brunton added the extras with a fantastic effort from the touchline.
Dominating possession in the first half, they went close with a break from Clapp and two chances for the forwards as well as a break from Tom Bennett.
But the strength of the Welsh meant they couldn’t get through again and a fourth try gave the visitors a bonus point.
Datchworth are at home to Cheshunt on Saturday.
