Potters Bar ski racer Robert Poth has been selected to Great Britain’s 2018 FIS Alpine Junior World Championships team.

This year’s championship, which is being held at Davos, Switzerland, started today and will run until February 8.

Twenty-year-old Poth, who is coached by Sam Liddell at Kandahar Ski racing on the full-time FIS programme, will compete in the alpine team event on Saturday, the giant slalom on Tuesday and the slalom next Wednesday.

The former Mount Grace pupil spoke of his pride at the selection, his second appearance at the World Junior Championship having competed in Are, Sweden last year.

He said: “It’s a huge honour and this was one of my season goals at the beginning of the year.

“I can’t wait to get out there and hopefully produce a credible performance.”
