Potters Bar’s men came so close to a remarkable recovery on Saturday, however they were to fall just short at Broxbourne.

The hosts stormed into a 5-0 lead by half-time and it looked like game over.

Bar fought back afterwards though and scored four unanswered goals, but they were not able to grab a fifth to earn a draw from the epic clash.

The second half saw Mark Turpin pull one back following a Bar counter-attack from a Broxbourne short corner.

Turpin then grabbed another after Josh Edge’s pass.

It was 5-3 as Miles Tomkins’ ball into the D from a short corner was deflected past the keeper by Will James.

Turpin completed his hat-trick with a penalty flick for 5-4.

This provided an unexpectedly tense finish with Broxbourne putting everyone behind the ball as they clung on for the victory.
