AN OLYMPIC flag was raised this morning to mark Welwyn Hatfield’s part in the torch relay.
The torch relay, which began in Cornwall on Saturday, will reach Welwyn Hatfield on Sunday, July 8.
A council spokeswoman said: “Councillor Carl Storer performed his last official engagement as Mayor this morning (Monday), by raising the Olympic flag over the council offices in WGC.
“The flag, which features a Union Jack decorated London 2012 Olympic Games logo, will fly over the council offices for the duration of the Olympic Torch Relay, until the end of the Paralympic Games in September.
“However, for four days in June, the Union Flag will fly to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee and the Armed Forces Day flag will fly at the end of June.”
