BEAUMONT Academy Divers scooped gold, silver and bronze medals at the European Masters Diving Championships held in the city of Kiev in Ukraine.

There was an Opening Ceremony at the end of the first day, with speeches in Ukrainian by local dignitaries, the local school children waved small flags, there was a band and a formal procession up both sides of the pool, with large flags and examples of each nationality’s folk costume.

The results showed what great divers there are within the Hatfield club’s adult section, taking some of the top awards.

In the 85-89-year-old women’s events, Rene Puddifoot gained gold medals in the 1m, 3m and platform events.

The 55-59-year-old men’s events saw Jim McNally gain a silver medal in the 1m event and again another silver in the 3m event narowly missing out on the gold medal by less than eight points.

In the 50-54 year women’s events, Barbara Heathfield gained a bronze in the 3m event.

Barbara added a silver medal in the 1m event, narrowly missing out on the gold medal by three points.

In the 35-39 year men’s events, Nick Daines gained a gold medal in the 3m event beating the opposition by many points in a fine display of diving and in the platform event he put together another technical set of dives to gain the gold medal.
