Welwyn Garden City’s legendary strongman is at it again with a mammoth record haul at the Scottish Highland Games World Championship.

Ian Miller competed in eight disciplines at the Stuttgart event and medalled in each one, claiming seven golds and one silver in the over 75 category.

His golds came in the Braemar stone, open stone, heavy weight for distance, light weight for distance, heavy Scottish hammer, light Scottish hammer and weight for height.

The silver was in the caber toss.

Prior to the championships the 84-year-old was inducted into the games hall of fame.

He said: “This is an extreme honour especially as it is from your highland games compatriots. I received a lovely plaque to honour it.”

The games saw over 250 competitors in ages ranging from 40 to 80 plus for both men and women from across the world.

The next championships are in the USA in November 2019 and Miller hopes to be involved if the finances hold up.
