Welwyn Hatfield Volleyball Club Ladies Team

IN only their second season of competitive play, the ladies team of Welwyn and Hatfield Volleyball Club have reached the final of the Hertfordshire Knockout Cup.

A decisive 3-0 semi-final success over St Albans-based Harriers Ravens secured the Times Territory outfit, who train at Gosling Sports Park, a place in the final against Watford YMCA.

Welwyn captain Lynne Howitt, said: “We’ve had a fantastic season so far, the team have really come together and continued to improve throughout the year.”

The club fields two men’s teams in the Herts League and in 2008 had enough women members to form a Ladies team, as well as playing mixed in the men’s league and cup.

“We’re all really excited to be in the final, and hope to cap the season off with a trophy.” Howitt added.

The final takes place on Sunday (May 16) from 12pm at Rudolf Steiner School, Kings Langley.
