APPEARING at The Open Championship in Sandwich last year showed Welwyn Garden City golfer Mark Laskey that he has the talent to compete with the top players in the sport.
He is looking for more consistency in his game in 2012, which will begin on the Europro Tour.
Speaking to the WHT he said: “My targets for 2012 are to, at the very least, progress fully onto the Challenge Tour again, ideally it would be the European Tour, but that cannot be achieved until Tour School in December.”
The 27-year-old is eager to taste victory as soon as possible.
“My early goals will be to win an event as this will help in coming in the top five on the order of merit to progress onto the Challenge Tour and also will allow me to get the home nation Challenge Tour events,” he said.
“I have had three 2nds and umpteen top 10s on The Europro in previous years so I am confident I can go one step further this year.”
Reflecting on a mixed last year, of which appearing at the Open was the highlight, he added: “My performances in 2011 were a little up and down.
“A positive from the year is that I shot more rounds between five to nine under than ever before which helped qualify me for The Open, which was an amazing week where I learnt I am as good as the best.
“However, the downside was I was lacking consistency in other rounds throughout the season, shooting two to four over due to poor driving accuracy which is an issue I have been addressing already.”
