Lee Thorlby of the Hatfield-based Crusaders Inline Skater Hockey Club, has been selected for the GB Masters over 38s team.

Fifty-three-year-old Thorlby, who is a junior coach for the Crusaders, will represent his country at the International Inline Hockey Tournament in Legnaro, Italy.

He has been playing skater hockey for many years.

It started with him playing street hockey in the 1980s, when the sport itself was in its infancy, and since then he has played in many tournaments across the world and also played for Scotland.

A spokeswoman for the club said: “Lee continues to play the sport at a high level whilst also helping coach local youngsters just beginning in the sport, ensuring the sport continues to grow.

“The young players in the teams he coaches at Crusaders are very proud of their coach and wish him good luck in the tournament.”
