WHILE the pampered drivers in Formula 1 have a team of designers and engineers to create their speed machines, one Welwyn Garden City racing driver is taking matters into his own hands.
For three years James Harridge, with help from his father Dave, has been building his own car to compete in the UK Formula Vee Championship, which is a single seater formula, and is trying to raise the £2,000 required to enter the competition.
The 25-year-old said: “I previously raced in karts, but due to lack of money I could not progress into single seaters so I set about building my own Formula Vee in my back garden shed in WGC.
“The car is now 90 per cent complete and I am trying to raise the 2k required to actually enter the Championship.”
