LEWIS Hamilton improved on his 18th quickest time in first practice to claim the sixth fastest spot in second practice ahead of Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Once again the Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber look in menacing form.
German Vettel, who topped morning practice, also set the top lap of the second session with 1 min 20.087 secs, with the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso just behind him in 1 min 20.583 secs at the Hungaroring in Budapest.
The Spaniard was closely followed by the second Red Bull of Mark Webber with a time of 1 min 20.597.
Herts ace Hamilton, the current world championship leader, set a best time of 1 min 21.308 secs while his McLaren Mercedes team-mate Jenson Button was ninth quickest in 1 min 21.730 secs.
During the session the McLaren team appeared happier with the improvement Hamilton made during the day.
Over the team radio, a message from the pits to the Tewin racer said: “Lewis, our pace looks considerably better than it did this morning.”
