LEWIS Hamilton’s Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team may have won the last three Hungarian Grand Prix, however F1 fans betting on this weekend’s race do not fancy the Herts ace’s outfit to carry on that success.
There has been a massive shift in focus in the build up to this weekend’s event with 80 per cent of bets taken by William Hill for the Ferrari boys with Fernando Alonso attracting almost 75 per cent of all bets placed.
Alonso is the 2/1 joint favourite with German Red Bull racer Sebastian Vettel to win in Budapest.
Vettel’s tendency to hit the self destruct button means that he is friendless, attracting less than 5 per cent.
Despite Paddy Lowe’s admission that McLaren will struggle to keep up with the Red Bulls and Ferraris, Hamilton at 6/1 and Jenson Button at 12/1 have still attracted almost 15 per cent of all bets.
Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: “At the start of the season, Red Bull were attracting the majority of the cash, then the McLarens came to the fore and now punters are putting their faith in Ferrari.”
