Archant

A sluggish start proved costly for Knebworth as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at Wormley Rovers in Herts Senior County League Premier Division.

Injuries and unavailability didn’t help their cause, but it was one-way traffic for the opening 25 minutes, by which time Ks found themselves 3-0 down.

The goals, albeit well taken, were avoidable if the Ks had been a little more diligent while protecting Adam Burnett in their goal.

But they gave themselves a boost just before the break when Dale Chester’s corner found the unmarked Max Taylor at the back post.

And Knebworth offered much more in attack after the break with Chester and Kadeem Gutzmore both being denied by the home keeper.

A switch of personnel brought the second Ks goal, with Christian Lett firing in from the edge of the area, but they couldn’t find the equaliser.

The Corehard man of the match award went to Max Taylor.
