With the score 1-1 and the game nearing an end, WGC’s Reyner was knocked unconscious in a challenge.

An ambulance was called and Reyner taken to hospital before being given the all clear later that day.

With the WGC players’ minds clearly on their team-mate the game resumed.

In added on time United took advantage and struck twice in the remainder to win 3-1.

It is the third time this season a City stopper has left a ground in an ambulance and a fourth that has suffered an injury.

Joe Croft (neck), Tom Coulton (broken leg) and now Reyner have all been taken to hospital for treatment and on-loan Connor Lambert damaged knee ligaments in the defeat to London Lions earlier this month.

WGC boss Simon Braine said: “I can’t believe how many keepers we have gone through.”
