PROMOTION chasing Ampthill Town inflicted a 6-0 defeat upon WGC at Herns Lane on Saturday.

The SSML Division One loss was The Citizens’ fourth in a row, a run which had come after four wins on the trot.

Tyrone Taylor bagged a hat-trick for Ampthill who are third in the table behind leaders London Colney and second-placed Hoddesdon Town.

Christian Lester opened the scoring after 10 minutes for the Bedfordshire outfit and that was doubled on 20 minutes by Taylor.

After the break it was 3-0 as Shaun Cooksey struck his first of the afternoon.

City then shipped another three goals in the final 15 minutes.

Taylor hit two to complete his treble and Cooksey grabbed his second of the day to end the scoring.

The Citizens’ run of tough games continues as they face table-toppers London Colney tomorrow (Wednesday) at Herns Lane.
