Striker Marcus Cumberbatch hit a brace and Tommy Kiernan bagged the other from the penalty spot as Simon Braine’s side ran out as winners.

Braine was pleased with the display especially as it had come after the disappointing 7-0 loss to Bedford.

The Citizens manager, said: “It was quite comfortable and should have been five or six.

“All in all it was a good performance from the lads, especially after the Bedford game after which everyone was a bit down.

“They all did what we asked them to do and helped each other out.”

The first goal of the game came early on from a WGC set-piece.

Kiernan’s corner caused confusion in the away side’s box and Cumberbatch capitalised by sliding the ball home.

Further opportunities fell the hosts way and both Piero Bagarone and Ade Osobu were unable to find the back of the net with just the keeper to beat.

Bagarone went close to netting his side’s second but hit the post, the ball was then cleared off the goal-line.

At the other end City had Joe Croft back between the sticks and he had an assured game as he kept a clean sheet.

After the break City started well, but they had to wait for their second goal.

It eventually came in the 72nd minute.

Bagarone beat two men and was then felled in the box with the referee pointing to the penalty spot.

Kiernan stepped up to convert the kick.

Soon after WGC added their third goal of the match.

Another corner was not dealt with by Kentish Town and again Cumberbatch made the most of it to net his second of the afternoon.

Before the end Kentish had a man sent off after he grappled with City full-back Nathan Bowden.

Shortly after Bowden picked up a second yellow card and was also dismissed, however it didn’t alter the result as WGC secured the three points.

City host second bottom of the league side Amersham Town at Herns Lane tomorrow (Wednesday) kick-off 7.45pm.
