Bostik North: Potters Bar seek positive start

Potters Bar Town will look to get the new year off to a positive start at Bostik League North rivals Waltham Abbey on Saturday.

The Scholars saw their New Year’s Day clash at Ware called off due to Wodson Park being waterlogged, having had mixed fortunes over the Christmas weekend.

Eoin Casey’s 16th-minute goal was enough for them to earn the points from a 1-0 victory over local rivals Hertford Town on Boxing Day, in front of a home crowd of 185.

But Bar were brought back down to earth by Grays Athletic on Saturday, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat on home soil.

Jack Fowler put the visitors in front seven minutes into the second half and Bar’s Billy Adcock was sent off on the hour mark.

Bradley Sach and Adeyinka Cole then netted four minutes apart to put Grays 3-0 up, before David Sota grabbed a last-minute consolation for the 10-man home side.
