Billy Joe Saunders will defend his WBO World Middleweight Championship at the O2 on April 14 against Martin Murray – but is still looking further ahead to his dream bout with either Gennady Golovkin or Canelo Alvarez.

And speaking at a press conference to announce the fight details the Hatfield champion said he felt some people in their respective camps were running scared.

He said: “Golovkin and Canelo aren’t scared, but the people looking after them [are]. They don’t want someone coming in and giving them a hard night’s work or even beating them because that’s just putting a spanner in the works.”

Saunders admits he only has a couple of years left at the top but he’s loving life under trainer Dominic Ingle

“It’s about hard work now, not going fat, not ballooning up,” he said. “I’m 28, I’ve got two years to do what I want to do and be at the pinnacle of my career.

“I’m happy where I’m at in my life at the minute and also in my boxing career.”
