Two women were taken to hospital after a crash in Hatfield which resulted in an oil spillage on a 60mph road.

Police were called at 10.02pm yesterday to reports of a collision in Coopers Green Lane, close to the junction with Hatfield Avenue.

Two vehicles were involved, a black Volkswagen Passat and a silver Vauxhall Zafira.

The fire service attended along with Highways due to oil on the road.

The ambulance service received a call at 10.21pm and dispatched two ambulance crews to the scene where they treated two female patients in their 20’s.

Both had suffered suspected back and chest pains and were taken to Lister Hospital for further care.

Recovery was arranged for the vehicles and a road closure was put in place.

The road was reopened at around 1am.
