A TEENAGER from Welwyn Garden City was attacked by a hooded assailant in Hatfield, sparking a police witness appeal.

The assault, on Thursday (April 26), happened when a 14-year-old boy was walking along Woods Avenue at 6.40pm when he was shouted at by a group of eight teenage thugs.

One of the gang approached him from behind, grabbed him and punched him in the face, leaving bruises.

The attacker was described as “white, aged 15 to 18 years old, of a skinny build and 5ft 10in to 6ft 1in tall.”

He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and black joggers.

Pc Mark Essam is investigating the incident and said: “This was an unprovoked attack which occurred in daylight hours so I am hopeful that someone will have seen it.

“If you believe you did see it or you think you know who the offender is, then please get in touch with me.”
