Fire services have been called out to a field blaze in Welwyn Hatfield.

A fire crew from Welwyn Garden City was called at 12.57pm to a field of straw stubble on fire between Stanborough Park and Chequers/the A1000.

The flames and smoke were caught on camera by Ayala Daly from outside a house in Chequersfield, Welwyn Garden City.

The fire has been classed as deliberate, but the fire service clarifies that this doesn’t necessarily mean arson, and that it could have a number of causes.

The crew put out the blaze by 1.42pm using a hose reel.

Around two per cent of the five-acre field was affected by the fire.
