THE Conservative party remain in overall control of Welwyn Hatfield – but it will be the Labour Party and Independent candiadate Sandra Kyriakides who will be celebrating.
The Tories held on to eight seats, but lost two to the Labour Party, as well as the hotly contested Welwyn West seat to the independent candidate.
Before today’s election, the make-up of the council was 37 Conservatives, nine Labour and two Liberal Democrats.
Following tonight’s count, the Tories have 34 councillors, Labour 11, two Liberal Democrats and one independent.
