Sufferers from Parkinson’s disease and their families relived the years of World War Two in a WGC get-together, featuring 1940s music, clothes, and food.

The Welwyn Hatfield branch of Parkinson’s UK organised a 1940s evening at Douglas Tilbe House, Hall Grove, on Wednesday.

Chairman John Edwards said: “Our treasurer Sylvia Ducat-Brown and her husband Robert organised an evening of brilliant entertainment based on the wartime years.

“Members dressed in period costume, and the sandwiches enjoyed were of that era, bully beef, Spam and fish paste.

“Eddie Slater who is 98 years gave a brilliant presentation of his wartime experiences, and displayed his talent as a comic, resulting in much hilarious laughter.

“All raffle prizes were of the time and wrapped in brown paper, and to help capture the full atmosphere an air raid siren played loudly followed by the sound of planes and bombing.”

Costumes were provided by Fancy Pants of Old Knebworth.
