Police are urging tradesmen to remove tools from vans after it was revealed there were 24 thefts in Welwyn Hatfield in 15 days.

The 24 thefts from vans happened between October 20 and November 3, police have confirmed.

Sgt Stephen Hynes from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to find the offender(s) responsible for these thefts.

“I would like to remind van owners to remove tools from your van when left over night.

“If this is not possible, we recommend fitting a tool safe and ensuring that it is fully secured with good quality locks.”

•Anybody who has any information that can help with our investigations should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via the non-emergency number 101.”
