Welwyn Hatfield Council to hold Commonwealth Day event

PUBLISHED: 11:00 04 March 2018

Welwyn Hatfield Council is inviting residents to the raising of the Commonwealth Day flag.

Residents are being encouraged to join Welwyn Hatfield deputy mayor councillor Barbara Fitzsimon at the raising of the Commonwealth Day flag on Monday, March 12.

The service will begin at 10am outside the council chamber, at the council offices in Campus East, where deputy mayor councillor Barbara Fitzsimon will do the honours.

This year’s theme is ‘towards a common future’, exploring how the Commonwealth can address global challenges and work to create a better future for all citizens through sub-themes including sustainability, safety and fairness.

Light refreshments will be served afterwards in the council chamber’s foyer.

Deputy mayor, councillor Barbara Fitzsimon, said: “We’re really proud to once again take part in this celebration that takes part across the world, linking with fellow citizens of the Commonwealth.”
