Welwyn Hatfield Council has apologised after its phone lines went down today.

A message on the local authority’s Facebook page said: “Our phone lines are currently down and we are looking into the issue with our supplier - we hope to have the issue resolved as soon as possible.

“We apologise to anyone who has been trying to contact us, we will post an update here once the lines are back up and running.”

One member of the public claimed they had been down since at least 9.30am.
