Fervent followers of The Mixed Group were treated to an Italian night at WGC’s Terranova Restaurant, where they enjoyed a three-course meal and a tombola.

Prizes ranged from whiskey and a garden gnome to chocolates and cosmetics, which helped raise a total of £837.50 on the night.

Charity founder Sean Cox said the room was filled with chatter and laughter as guests tucked into their food and soaked up the “fantastic” atmosphere.

“The evening was a great success,” he told the WHT. “It is always lovely to see people turn out to support us and give so generously in aid of those who need it most.

“Especially coming so soon after our Christmas Day meal, it was particularly pleasing to raise the money we did, which gives us a good start to another year of fundraising.

“We are also holding a quiz night on March 3 at Douglas Tilbe House, where we hope to see many of our supporters again.”
