A Welwyn Hatfield charity that offers Christmas Day meals to lonely and elderly residents has raised over £1,000 during its latest fundraiser.

Nearly 70 people flocked to The Mixed Group’s afternoon tea event, where they soaked up entertainment from Welwyn musician and entertainer John Croft.

They also enjoyed a raffle – with prizes ranging from whisky to a garden gnome – along with delicious food prepared by Mill Green Mill and Museum.

There were also around 30 volunteers, including helpers from the Welwyn Hatfield Sea Cadets.

The charity’s founder, Sean Cox, told the WHT that the event was a huge success.

“Everyone had a lovely time, the atmosphere was jovial and the food was delicious,” he said.

“We are all very grateful for all the donations and support we received, and hope to see our supporters again at our cycle rally fundraiser on September 2.”
