Travelodge, in Gate House, which is situated above Waterstones and Santander, is now letting people book rooms from Monday, August 13.

A one night stay for one adult will cost you £57 for a standard double room, and £68.50 if you want breakfast included and access to the hotel’s wifi.

The same room size for one night will cost you £50 at the Travelodge in Hatfield, and £61.50 if you want wifi and breakfast.

Applicant Epping Investment Holdings Limited gained permission for the hotel in Fretherne Road, Welwyn Garden City, in January 2017 - an investment of £7.5m.

The budget hotel chain has created 25 jobs including bar/café assistants, house-keepers, guest room cleaners and receptionists.
