A Welwyn Garden City man has been jailed after stealing a till from a college’s beauty department.

Dean Harper trespassed into the Beauty Centre at Oaklands College in The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, on October 9 and stole a till.

He admitted the offence when he appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on October 11.

Magistrates deemed the offence to be especially serious given his previous record of offending.

They jailed him for 12 weeks.

Harper, 44, of Moatwood Green, was also ordered to pay victim services £115.

There was no order for costs due to the custodial sentence imposed.
