A 65-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City sadly died near Morrisons in Royston at the weekend.

The ambulance service were called to Baldock Street on Saturday at 12.20pm to reports of someone not conscious or breathing near the supermarket.

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a community first responder and ambulance officer attended.

The patient, who police have today confirmed was a 65-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City, was treated at the scene for a suspected cardiac arrest and was taken to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital in a critical condition. He later died, with his family informed.

Police are not treating the case as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
