Welwyn Garden City church donates gifts to four causes
A Welwyn Garden City church has donated an array of Christmas gifts to four local causes.
Congregations and friends of the United Reformed Church provided the gifts to be distributed between the causes at the church’s annual Gift Sunday on December 3.
Children’s toys, ladies’ gifts and toiletries were given to Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge.
Toiletries were gifted to the YMCA in Peartree Lane, festive food was put towards hampers for Christians Against Poverty, while mince pies and gifts were given to the Cellar Club, which help the homeless.
A spokesman for the church said: “We are amazed at the generosity of people every year.
“In particular our thanks go to Timothy Muggleton who gave over £400 worth of children’s toys.”
On receiving the gifts, the Women’s Refuge said: “These are amazing. The ladies will be so pleased. They get particularly anxious over Christmas.”
At the end of the service, Father Christmas came with his trolley to take the presents to be sorted and distributed.
