A three-year-old boy will be given the honour of turning on Welwyn Garden City’s Christmas lights this year.

Welwyn Garden City Business Improvement District is pleased to announce that Noah has won the competition to switch on the lights.

In his entry to the competition, he writes:

Dear Santa

My name is Noah and I am three years old.

This year for Christmas I would like a toy pram and a fire engine.

I’ve been really good helping mummy tidy my toys, eating my dinner and practising my reading and writing.

I would like to turn on the Christmas lights with you this year as I would really love to meet you.

My mummy and all my aunties will be bringing me to see the lights turned on and I really hope I can see you there.

Have a nice day Santa

Lots of love from Noah

The lights switch-on competition was launched after WGC BID cancelled its celebrity guest, a former Love Island contestant after parents started a petition calling for someone else to have the honour.

Noah will switch on the lights on Thursday, November 16. His mother has requested that we do not publish his full name.
