A Welwyn Garden City-based charity embarked on a sponsored walk to raise awareness for children who have ADHD.

Staff and volunteers from Welwyn Garden City-based charity SPACE put on their walking boots on Saturday, July 29, and joined hundreds of people across the country for a sponsored trek.

It was part of a national campaign to raise funds and awareness of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Co-ordinated by the UK’s leading ADHD agency, ADHD Foundation, SPACE embarked on the walk in Stanborough Lakes.

ADHD now affects one in 20 children and one in 60 adults in the UK.

Nicky Chaperlin, SPACE chair said: “The support we have had in the sponsored walk has been amazing and I want to thank all those who came out, with families and friends, to have some fun together and importantly raise awareness for ADHD.”

SPACE, which was recently appointed Welwyn Garden City Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year, supports parent/carers of children and young people on the Autistic Spectrum, with ADHD or a related condition.
