Thieves target shoppers in Welwyn Garden City

Police are warning shoppers to be on their guard in Welwyn Garden City town centre after thieves targeted two people earlier today.

The police have received two reports of theft so far.

A lady has reported that her bag was stolen but was unsure from what shop.

A man has also reported that his wallet was stolen whilst in Sainsbury’s.

A spokesman for the police said: “Whilst out and about please do not leave bags unattended in shopping trolleys and always make sure they are zipped up.

“Gents keep your wallets in your jacket inside pockets not trouser pockets.

“Beware who is around you and who is engaging you in conversation.

“If you feel uncomfortable make a member of shop staff aware.”
