A walker is urging people not to drop litter after coming across this scene in a Welwyn Garden City river.

Lee Gray was out walking along the River Lea when he came to a stretch downstream of Stanborough Park where litter had collected.

He told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Nice to see our rivers being looked after.

“Saddest thing is every item will have been carelessly discarded somewhere upstream by an idiot.”

Mr Gray is urging people to take their litter home with them.
