THERE were 100/1 odds for barely-known Charl Schwartzel to win the US Masters in 2011.
You would have thought the odds were even higher to then see him in Welwyn Hatfield any time after that.
However, you’d be mistaken, as the former winner of the illustrious Green Jacket was at Brocket Hall to pass on his tips to some of England’s finest, erm, cricketers!
In an event organised and sponsored by Investec, bowlers Graham Onions, Stuart Broad and Steve Finn from England’s Test cricket team were invited to Brocket’s plush practice grounds – The Palmerston Golf Academy – for a tutor session with Charl.
Charl came from four shots behind on the final day of the Major at Augusta in 2011. He has since climbed as high as seventh in the world rankings.
He was in the UK for last week’s PGA Championship at Wentworth, while our Ashes winners were en route to Nottingham for the Second Test match against the West Indies.
James Fuller, head professional at Brocket Hall, pictured right with Charl Schartzel, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host Charl and the England cricket team members to enjoy our facilities here at Brocket Hall.”
