A WELWYN Hatfield taxi driver is still being questioned today (Wednesday), after an anti-terror police raid in Luton.

The man, believed to be aged 24, was one of five men aged from 21 to 35, arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

A spokeswoman for Welwyn Hatfield Council, who licence taxi drivers across the borough, said: “We have been told one person has been arrested from an address registered to a Welwyn Hatfield licensed driver.

“However, the individual’s personal details have not been disclosed to the council.

“In the event that a licensed driver is convicted of a serious offence, procedures are in place to enable the council, where appropriate, to suspend a licence immediately.

“However, any action from the council will be dependent upon the outcome of the police investigation, and we are therefore keeping matters under continuous review.”
