Police have recovered a “suspicious” car after it caught fire in Potters Bar.

The fire service was called at around 2pm yesterday (Sunday) following reports of a car well alight in Oakmere Avenue.

One Potters Bar crew was sent and extinguished the blaze, which was listed as accidental, within half an hour.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 2.01pm by the fire service to reports of a car fire.

“It looks like there were some suspicious elements to it so it has been recovered for forensic analysis.

“We have done some enquiries at the scene and are still looking into it at this stage.”
