THE first Sonisphere 2012 festival line-up announcement for Knebworth Park will finally be made next week.

The three-day rock and metal festival returns to the grounds of Knebworth House from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.

No headliners of the UK leg of the international touring festival have been confirmed yet by organisers Kilimanjaro Live.

However, a countdown clock has now appeared on the official Sonisphere website – with the date of the first announcement Monday at 8pm.

Sonisphere’s Twitter profile also tweeted last night (Thursday): “How long is it until 8pm on Monday in days, hours and minutes?”

Faith No More, Evanenscene, Marilyn Manson, Wolfmother, Machine Head and Soulfly have all been confirmed today (Friday) for the French leg of Sonisphere at Amneville over the same weekend as Knebworth.

Unlike many festivals, there are no clashes on Sonisphere’s two main stages.

Metallica and Linkin Park headlined the inaugural festival at Knebworth in 2009.

Alice Cooper, Rammstein and Iron Maiden played the second Sonisphere at the legendary rock venue.

Last year’s headliners were Biffy Clyro, Slipknot and thrash metal’s Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
