Now in its third year, the international touring juggernaut has already steamrollered its way across Europe after starting out in Poland on June 10.

Helsinki in Finland gets the full Sonisphere treatment this weekend and then it is Knebworth’s turn to witness three days of metal mayhem from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10.

The weekend will get off to an explosive start on the Friday night with thrash metal’s legendary Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth rocking the Apollo stage to its very core.

Masked American metallers Slipknot headline the closing day at Knebworth with their first UK concert since the death last year of founder member and bass player Paul Gray.

Sandwiched between those two nights of metal carnage are Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro, who will headline a British festival for the first time on the Apollo stage on the Saturday.

Others on the bill over the weekend include alt-rockers Weezer, pop-punk band All Time Low, rock legends Motörhead and comedian Bill Bailey.

And you could be there for the duration of the weekend thanks to the Welwyn Hatfield Times – the festival’s local paper.

We have teamed up with festival promoters Kilimanjaro to offer three pairs of full weekend camping tickets for the UK leg of the festival.

And, as an extra special prize, our good friends at Sonisphere have also thrown in a meet and greet with Saturday headliners Biffy Clyro for each of our three winners, plus their guest.

Long established as one of Britain’s most incendiary live bands, it’s certainly been a busy summer for the award-winning Ayrshire trio.

Having played Glastonbury’s main stage last Friday, Simon Neil and brothers James Johnston and Ben Johnston are the Foo Fighters’ special guests at Milton Keynes Bowl this weekend.

Biffy also released their first live album and DVD Revolutions // Live At Wembley on Monday, featuring classics such as The Captain, That Golden Rule, Mountains and Many of Horror.

Biffy Clyro won best live band at this year’s NME Awards, best video for The Captain at both the NME and Kerrang! awards, and were also nominated for two Q Awards and earned their first Brit and Mercury Prize nominations.

To stand a chance of winning a pair of Sonisphere camping tickets to Knebworth, simply answer the following question:

Who is headlining the main Apollo stage at Knebworth on the Saturday this year?

a) Iron Maiden

b) Foo Fighters

c) Biffy Clyro

To enter, send your answer to Sonisphere competition, Welwyn Hatfield Times, 31a Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, Herts AL8 6AP or email comps@whtimes.co.uk

Remember to include your name, age, address and contact details, both telephone and email. Entrants must be aged 16 plus.

But hurry – the closing date is noon on Monday, July 4.

There is no cash alternative. Editor’s decision is final.

Travel to and from Knebworth is not included in the prize.

Winners will be contacted by festival organisers to arrange the Biffy Clyro meet and greet.

Normal Archant rules apply.
