A woman has been ordered to pay nearly £900 after failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Rebecca Smith, 27, did not appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court when her case was heard on March 8.

She was found guilty of three charges in her absence.

Smith was driving a Honda Jazz when an accident occurred and damage was caused to a Peugeot 108 in the car park in Cole Green Lane on September 13.

She failed to stop at the scene.

She then failed to report the accident to police within 24 hours of it happening.

Smith was also found guilty of driving without due care and attention.

She was fined £740.

The defendant, of Charminster Road, Bournemouth, was also ordered to pay £44 to victim services and £85 court costs.

Five penalty points were added to her licence.
