A man who stole more than £600 worth of goods from Tesco in Potters Bar has been sent to prison.

John Walsh, 21, of Garstons Close, Ponders End, targeted the supermarket on Monday, November 20.

He stole numerous items worth a total of £604.02.

Walsh was jailed for four weeks to run concurrently.

Magistrates considered the offence to be especially seriously because of the high value of the shoplifting and because the offence was committed while the defendant was on licence.

Walsh admitted the offence when he appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on the same day.

He was also ordered to pay victim services £115.

There was no order for costs due to the custodial sentence imposed.
